‘Day at Shefer’ is a video filmed entirely in one shot. A video camera that was connected to a laptop captured close to 24 hours of video at Cafe Shefer, near the Center for Contemporary Art Tel Aviv.
We compressed these 24 hours to a 45 minutes video (with time remapping). Then we divided the frame into 5 segments. Each segment portrayed a different point of time so the viewer could watch the whole day at shefers’ in each frame. The video was processed with max/jitter to make slight suggestions to our eyes with outlining of the figures so the viewer could be constantly busy interpreting the movements, colors, and abstract shapes that form the video as actual events that occurred throughout the day.
